Melissa obtained Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Marine Biology and Coastal Sciences, along with a minor in Environmental Justice, from Montclair State University. During her time at Montclair State, Melissa worked for the New Jersey Center for Water Science and Technology for five years where she assisted in field sampling and laboratory analysis for water quality monitoring projects. Her work has focused on identifying and quantifying phytoplankton communities in New Jersey’s freshwater bodies, surveying culvert crossings for terrestrial and aquatic wildlife passage, and coordinating environmental education and outreach programs.
Melissa has joined the New Jersey Water Supply Authority’s Watershed Protection Division as an Assistant Watershed Protection Specialist to aid in the Authority’s aquatic invasive species management program, water quality monitoring programs, and education and outreach efforts.
In her spare time, Melissa loves being outdoors, climbing at a rock-climbing gym, and spending time with her dog.
